Laura Payne

Funeral services for Annie Laura McCorvey Payne, 86, of Tifton, GA will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Bethel Baptist Church in Turner Co., GA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Payne entered into rest Thursday at the Memorial Convalescent Center in Adel, GA following an extended illness.

The daughter of the late Ethan Allen and Essie Mae Little McCorvey, she was born in Turner Co. She was a long time resident of Irwin and Turner Counties before moving to Tifton in 1984. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Tifton, where she had a love for attending services. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She was the widow of James Grady Payne, who passed away in 1979. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1939 and a son, James Jerry Payne in 1964. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, Royce Payne, Enigma, GA; Ronnie Lee Payne, Watkinsville, GA; Faye Spradley, Chula, GA; Shirley Barnes, TyTy, GA; Martha Jean Bearden, Sylvester, GA and Joyce Murphy, Tifton, GA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friend Friday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel.
