Funeral services for Forrest E. ‘Gib’ Gibson, 90, of 516 Terrell Road, Ashburn, Ga. will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Harmony Baptist Church with Pastors Jerry Cooper, Larry Dean and Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. Mr. Gibson died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Special music will be presented in the songs, “How Great Thou Art”, “In The Garden", and “Because He Lives”. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Gibson, Kenny Gibson, Bill Gibson, Ethan Gibson, Colin Gibson and Troy Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Lumpkin, Jack Ireland, Jack Whiddon, Bill Roberts, Bobby Youngblood, William Gibson and Charles Goff.

Mr. Gibson was born in Molino, Florida and was the son of the late Joe and Escambia Gibson. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years where he spent time in Japan, Korea, and Germany. He served in the Korean War. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Hasan Shrine Temple. He had the privilege of unveiling the U.S. flag in Wiesbaden, Germany as the manager of the commissary. He was an avid gardener. He loved his children, grandchildren and was a loving husband and family man.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Anna Rae Gibson, Ashburn, Ga.; his sons and daughters in law, Tony (Bonnie) Gibson, Rogers, Arkansas; Bill (Lori) Gibson, Littleton, Colorado; Kenny (Nancy) Gibson, Milton, Florida; and Earl Gibson, Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Weber, Lincoln, Nebraska and Peggy Carney, Pensacola, Florida. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joe Gibson, his brothers, Aubrey, Maurice, and Lester, and his sisters, Beatrice Raus and Helen Weber.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, April 17, 2009 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
