Funeral services for Zelda Ward Fender, 55, of Ashburn will be held Monday, May 11, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in the New Prospect Church Cemetery. Mrs. Fender died Saturday at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany following an extended illness.
Mrs. Fender was born in Ashburn and had resided all of her life in Turner County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John T. and Eula Othell Howell Ward. She was the lead supervisor at Nation Wide Homes in Arabi, Ga. and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She loved working on her home and was the widow of the late Clarence Julian Fender.
Mrs. Fender is survived by one son, Clarence Joseph (Renee’) Fender and two daughters, Jessica Lynn (Samuel Lee) Mitchell, and April Cheri (James Franklin) Tedders, all of Ashburn, Ga. Also surviving are five sisters, Sue Tripp, Tina Tanner, Nell Handley, Melba Brown and Teresa Ward, all of Ashburn, Ga. and one brother, Terry Ward, Lenox, Ga. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Shelby, Ryan, Dallas, Julie, Zack, Adain, & Elijah.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
