Hilrey Averitt Hanner

Funeral Services for Hilrey Averitt Hanner, age 83, of Ashburn will be held Monday at 10:00 A. M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hanner died Friday June 26, 2009 at his residence after a long illness.

Mr. Hanner was a native of Marion County, Georgia the son of the late Alto & Bessie Missouri Powell Hanner, Sr. and had been a resident of Ashburn since 1952.
He was a veteran of World War Two serving in the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church. He was the retired owner and operator of Lawson Furniture Co. Mr. Hanner was chairman of the Ashburn Chamber of Commerce from 1958 to 1960 and served as Chairman of the Ashburn Christmas Parade for a long number of years. He was Selected Citizen of the Year in 1992. Mr. Hanner was preceded in death by a daughter Angie H. Richter and a grandson Jeff Richter.

Survivors include his wife Jeanette Studdard Hanner, his children David (Kim) Hanner and Marilyn (Earl) Perry, all of Ashburn. Three brothers, Royce Hanner, Ashburn, Ga., Cecil Hanner, Columbus, Ga. and Boyce Hanner, BuenaVista, Ga. and seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
