Jessie Leion Smith

Funeral Services for Jessie Leion Smith, age 85, of 339 Clements Chapel Rd. Ashburn will be held Thursday at 2:00 P. M. at the Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Tuesday August 4, 2009 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was a native and life long resident of Turner County the son of the late James Elbert & Minnie Estelle Vinson Smith. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Clements Chapel Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a veteran of World War Two serving in the U. S. Army in Italy. He was preceded in death by his wife Iris Gwinnette “Nette” Houston Smith in January 2008.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law JoAnn & Carl Gorday, Birmingham, Ala. and two grandchildren Christin (Justin) Brown, Helena, Al. and Ashley (Luke) Spaulding, Mobile, Al. He is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn.
