George C. Poole, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. George C. Poole, Jr., 80, of Ashburn, GA will be held Friday, December 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Turner Co., GA. Mr. Poole passed away Wednesday at Tift Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The son of the late George Cleveland and Emma Claude Rawls Poole, Sr. he was born in Soperton, GA and was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Master SGT. Mr. Poole was a long time resident of Tifton before moving to Ashburn nine years ago. Mr. Poole enjoyed restoring and repairing clocks and was an avid wood worker.

Mr. Poole is survived by his wife Grace Lathem Poole, Ashburn; his sisters, Juanita Jordan, Wrightsville, GA, Martha “Peggy” Greer, Tifton, GA; Marion Davis, Jacksonville, FL; a brother Talmadge Poole, Wrightsville, GA; a large number of nieces and nephews and his special friends, Lt. Col. Michael and Carol Bridges and their children, Adam and Tiffani Bridges all of Barksdale A.F.B., LA.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, GA.
