Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Rogers Butler, 84, of Ashburn, GA will be held, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:30 PM in the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Mrs. Butler passed away Monday at her residence following a brief illness.
The daughter of the late Amos Robert and Julia Turner Rogers, she was born in Reynolds, GA and had lived in Turner Co. since 1958. She was an active member of The Ashburn First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Joyful Messengers, the Fire Ant Festival Committee and the Rose Garden Club. She was also a valuable worker in the Heart Fund and Relay for Life fund raisers. She was the widow of Mr. Albert V. Butler. She was former registrar for Turner Co. and was retired from The Turner Co. Tax Assessors Office. She was a graduate of Manchester High School and attended LaGrange College and Auburn University.
Survivors include her daughters and son in laws, Bunny and Scott Chestnutwood, Tifton, GA and Julianne and John Lowe, Watkinsville, GA. Also her grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Hillary Lowe, Suwannee, GA; Scott Lowe, Charleston, SC and Anna Chestnutwood, Athens, GA.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
