Raymond Carlton Newsome, Sr.

Funeral services for Raymond Carlton Newsome, Sr., 75 of Ashburn will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Newsome died Sunday following a brief illness.

Mr. Newsome was born in Ashburn and had lived here all of life. He was the son of the late Forrest F. Newsome and Rose Lee Bullington Wise. He was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Opal Kennedy Newsome, Ashburn, Ga.; one son Raymond Carlton Newsome, Jr. and his girlfriend Teresa Gorre, of Sylvester, Ga.; one daughter, Vickie N. Henderson and her husband, Kenneth of Tifton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Ashley Newsome, Brandy Newsome, Hannah Newsome, Jennifer Newsome, Tiffany Sconyers-Hill, and William Henderson and six great grandchildren. His God Son, Raj Singh of Tift Co., Ga. Also surviving is Teresa Gorre’s daughters, Stephenie Gorre and Briana Johnson.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Chapel.
