Funeral services for Dewey Wardlow Reynolds, 88, of Ashburn will be held Monday, September 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Reynolds died Friday in Albany following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Reynolds was born in Turner County and was the son of the late Wilburn Fred and Anna Oliver Wardlow Reynolds. He attended Rebecca High School, then Georgia Southwestern College before entering the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy he was stationed at the U.S. Navy Base in San Diego, California. He was later assigned to the USS Cleveland and served three years of combat on the USS Cleveland in the South Pacific.

Mr. Reynolds retired from Georgia Power Company in Winder, Ga. before moving to Arabi, Ga. and later to Ashburn, Ga. He had resided most of his life in Turner and Crisp Counties. He was a member of the Lions Club for 50 years. He attended the Ashburn First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Bill Harden Sunday School Class and was a former member of the Church Brotherhood. Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Hobby Reynolds and two sons, Wilburn “Louie” Reynolds and Steve Reynolds and one daughter Kay Johnson.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by one son, Bob Reynolds, Conroe, Texas and two daughters, Libby Reynolds, Ashburn, Ga. and Margaret Reynolds, Mableton, Ga. Also surviving are one brother, Marvin Reynolds, Warwick, Ga. and one sister, Dorothy Walls, Cordele, Ga. Mr. Reynolds is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends, Sunday from 4:00-5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
