Funeral services for Robert Lee Pitts, 79, of Ashburn, GA will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Turner Co., GA. Mr. Pitts passed away Thursday following an extended illness.
The son of the late James W. and Susan Bowman Pitts, he was born in Turner Co., GA. He was a member of New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church. He was the widower of Susie Mae Brooks Pitts. Mr. Pitts enjoyed fishing, going to Gospel Sings, enjoyed spending time with family and being outdoors. He was retired from The City Of Ashburn.
Survivors include his step children, Roy (Edna) Truelove, Ashburn, GA; Marcus (Carrie Lee) Truelove, Cairo, GA; Jackie (Fran) Coats, Sycamore, GA; Annie Pearl (Jim) Bailey, Tifton, GA. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, a large number of great-grandchildren and a nephew, Gary Pitts, Sylvester, GA.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until hour of services at Perry Funeral Chapel.
