Funeral services for Lucille Cravey Ponder, 89, of Ashburn will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Ponder died Saturday at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ponder was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late James Benjamin and Ruby Sumner Cravey. She was a devoted homemaker and former interpreter at the Agrirama in Tifton. She was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church where she was a member of Circle #3 and the Griffin-Saxon Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. “Bill” Ponder in 1991.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Ponder, Ashburn, Ga. four daughters and three sons in law: Jan & Jimmie Taylor, Ashburn, Ga., Pat & Henry Lumsden, Sycamore, Ga., Bobbie & George Haynie, Cordele, Ga., and Nancy Ponder, Ashburn, Ga. Mrs. Ponder is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother, Mack Cravey, Jesup, Ga.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time in the Social Hall at the First United Methodist Church.
