Virgil H. Beard

Funeral services for Virgil H. Beard, 83 , of Sycamore, Ga. will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Beard died Monday at Heritage Health Care in Ashburn following an extended illness.

Mr. Beard was a native of and lifelong resident of Turner County, Georgia and was the son of the late Jonathan T. Owen and Jessie Inez Cleghorn Beard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a retired service station attendant.

Mr. Beard is survived by his wife, Trellis Hale Beard of Sycamore, Ga. and one daughter, Vicki (Ronnie) Fowler of Tifton, Ga. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Stephanie (Kenneth) Griner, of Alapaha, Ga. and Chad Fowler of Tifton, Ga. and his great-grandchildren, Brittany Marr, of Alapaha, Ga., McKenzi Lawrence and Maci Fowler, both of Funston, Ga.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn, Ga.
