Funeral services for James M. “Jimmy” Walker, Jr., 65, of Ashburn Ga. will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Walker died Sunday at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Walker was born in Worth County, Ga., the son of the late James M. Walker, Sr. and Loney Mae Ward Williams and was raised by his step-father, Carlton G. “Bud” Williams. He was a member of the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired plumber and enjoyed all types of bird hunting, fishing and deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Hunter B. Watson.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Linda S. Walker, Ashburn, Ga., two sons, James Rodney (Staci) Walker, Ashburn, Ga., Timothy M. (Mary) Strawder, Cordele, Ga. and one daughter, Selena W. ( Michael) Watson, Ashburn, Ga. He is also survived by one brother, Steve (Kathy) Williams, Ty Ty, Ga. and two sisters Brenda (Charles) Willingham, Ashburn, Ga. and Ann W. (Allen) Lavender, Ashburn, Ga. and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
