Funeral services for James B. Williford, 66, Sycamore, Georgia will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Snowridge Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Williford died Monday in a Jacksonville, Florida hospital following a sudden illness.
Mr. Williford was born in Rebecca, Georgia and was the son of the late Benjamin ”Ben” W. and Juanita Ruth Barton Williford of Rebecca, Ga. He was a retired farmer and a former Teacher, Coach and Principal in the Turner County School system. He was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on his farm, genealogy and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed being a Georgia Tech fan in the middle of Georgia country.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wiggins Williford, Sycamore, Ga., his son Lance Williford, Valdosta, Ga. and his daughter, Dee Williford Hyde, Cordele, Ga.; his mother, Nita B. Williford, Rebecca, Ga.; his grandchildren, Whitney Hyde, Ben Hyde, and Lindee Hyde, and one great-grandchild, Kade Harbuck, all of Cordele, Ga. He is also survived by two sisters, Elaine W. Cullina, Rebecca, Ga. and Susan N. Phillips, Hiawassee, Ga.
The family will receive friends, Thursday from 1:00-2:45 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, Ga.
