Arvle Mack Brown

Arvle Mack Brown, 71, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at UF Health-Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Mack, affectionately known to some as “The Professor” was born on August 25, 1951 in Tifton to the late Arvle Hubert and Adrian Elouse Spradlin Brown. He was a farmer having worked for Gorday Farms. In his younger years he was a horse jockey. He was an animal lover. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed making knives. He was also of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Melba Brown of Ashburn; daughters, Tonka (Jody) Posey of Lawndale, North Carolina and Tonya (Josh) Nipper of Sycamore; sons, Johnny (Lacey) Brown of Ashburn and Terrell Brown of Ashburn; “adopted” daughter, Dareinn Stich of Tifton; “adopted” sons, Burt Gorday of Ashburn and Chad Gorday of McRae; sister, Doris Ellerbee of Ashburn; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Elaine Brown and a brother, Hubert Johnny Brown.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
