Bessie Lena Wood Cole

Bessie Lena Wood Cole, 84, of Sycamore passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.

Bessie was born on March 16, 1938 in Turner County to the late William Jasper “Jack” Wood and Rosie Evers Wood Gant. She was a seamstress and a member of Dakota Baptist Church. Bessie loved sewing, crocheting and quilting. She loved taking care of animals. She was also the Queen of Life Care Center.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Carlisle of Palatka, Florida and Ann Hartman of Louisa, Virginia; sons, Randall Hunt of Satsuma, Florida, Ray Hunt of Keystone Heights, Florida and Will Hunt; sister, Ida Kate Wood Garner of Sycamore; and best friend, Betty Lamb of Rebecca. She is also survived by several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Cole and a sister, Louise Sumner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private.
