Billy Richard Black, 89, of Ashburn passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Billy was born on April 19, 1935 in Worth County to the late Henry Lloyd and Martha Idell Hampton Black. He was a member of the House of Prayer. Billy was a carpenter and loved building things. He enjoyed working with his hands to create many things. He especially loved building birdhouses, twisted sticks benches, and homes. Billy also enjoyed fishing. Many times he would bring home his mess and cook them with his wife as they enjoyed eating in their backyard alongside the flowers he picked for his wife. Above all else, Billy was a family man. He was a loving husband, dad and Papa. He was a strong, gentle man that will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cora Belle Black of Ashburn; daughters, Laura Kim (David) Reeves of Sycamore and Traycee Black of Ashburn; son, Billy Craig (Dina) Black of Tifton; grandchildren, Billy Lloyd (Kim) Black, Jennifier Kate Black, Ben (Traci) Reeves, Lauren Kimberly Reeves Lee, Mary Kate Reeves, Benjamin Wyatt Reeves, Benjamin Emmett Reeves and Jonathon Charles (Jacqueline) Evans; great-grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Reeves, Emma Kate Reeves, Mason Bryant Lee, John David Lee, Larkyn Wilson, Laura Marie Evans, Ethan Charles Evans, Austin Gregory Wilson, Luke Reason Hinson, Billy Laine Black and Landry Issac Black.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
