Brenda Joyce McKinney Carpenter

Brenda Joyce McKinney Carpenter, 76, passed away February 13, 2025 at her residence.

Joyce was born on December 20, 1948 in Tift County to the late Charlie Fred and Rachel Hightower McKinney. Joyce spent most of her life busy raising her children, Lee and Bo. She served on the Board of Elections for Worth County and also ran the Doles Agency. Joyce also worked with Covendis. She was a faithful member of Red Oak Baptist Church. She also loved being a grandma. But above all of this she was the wife to Joel, whom she loved with every ounce of her being. He was her whole heart. She was a strong, determined and devoted woman. Her family and her faith were her driving force to the end.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Franklin Carpenter of Ashburn; daughter, Sonya Lee Carpenter Wideman of Ashburn; son, Joel Todd “Bo” (Jennifer) Carpenter of Ashburn; grandchildren, Franklin Chance (Heather) Carpenter, Tomijo (JJ) Douglas, Breanna Lynn (Cole) Melton, Charlie Rachel (Braydon) Rountree and Katherine Diane Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Desi Carpenter, Brooks Carpenter, Ty Carpenter, Dustin Douglas, Levi Melton, Ivy Rountree, Todd Rountree and Will Rountree.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlie Fred McKinney, Jr. and Barbara Ann Turner.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Red Oak Cemetery.
