Dixie Jean Gay

Dixie Jean Gay, 66, of Chula passed away Friday, February 14, 2025.

Dixie was born in Sylvester on December 12, 1958 to the late Bo Wynton and Bonnie Burk Gay. After graduating high school in California, Dixie attended nursing school. After returning home to Georgia she continued to work as a nurse until she married her husband, Carl Gay. Dixie and Carl met on December 2, 1978. Their life together began that day and two months later on February 2, 1979, Carl and Dixie got married. After marriage Dixie devoted her life to Carl. Dixie and Carl lived and worked at Crystal Lake from 1989-2005 and managed it the last few years it was operational. Dixie was a wonderful person and would do anything for anyone. She was a sweetheart of a person that will be deeply missed.

Dixie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Carl Gay of Chula; step-sister, Samantha Tackett Gay of Bozeman, Montana; brother, Shawn Gay of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Russell (Roxane) Gay of Chula. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and an honorary son and daughter, Eric and Celeste Rutland.
