Donald Gene Collins

Donald Gene Collins, 76, of Rebecca, GA passed away Friday, December 23, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Don was born on November 16, 1946 in Turner County to Doss Russell and Corrie Odom Collins. Donald was serving as Mayor of Rebecca, GA and enjoyed farming and providing for his family. He was a very proud and humble man.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.    

He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie (Al) Smith of Ashburn, GA and his son, James “Jim” (Miranda) Collins of Perry, GA. Don is survived by his grandson, Luke Alaxandar Smith, as well as he and Merilyn’s beloved chi-weenie, Prissy, affectionately referred to as their “baby”. 

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Merilyn Snow Collins as well as his sister, Doris Norman and his brother, Willis Collins. 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rebecca. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary an hour prior to service at 1:00PM.
