Donald Parker Willis, 84, of Covington formerly of Sycamore passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Donald was born in Turner County on October 12, 1938 to the late James Hansel and Alice Wilder Willis. He was the Southeast Regional Communications Monitor for Southern Bell for 40 years. Donald was a wonderful father and Christian family man. He was handy and could fix anything from toasters to lawn mowers to vehicles. For a period of time he worked as a mechanic in Sycamore. He loved to fish and be outdoors working in his garden. Donald also loved camping with his wife, Virginia. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them site-seeing in different parts of the country. In his later years, he loved to fly and travel to places he had never been to. He was a very kind and compassionate friend and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Elaine Willis of Leesburg and Diane Willis (Jerry) Folden of Jefferson City, Tennessee; son, Dale P. (Maria) Willis of Covington; grandchildren, Scott (Tamara) Etheridge, Sindy (Daniel) Bell, Kristy (Bryan) Hughes, Donald (Kim) Bond, Daniel-Lee Folden, Austin Hernandez and Sebastian Hernandez; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved pet and fourth child, Pandi Willis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Noel Willis; siblings, Geraldine Moody, Joe Warren Willis and John Lawson Willis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, you may visit with the family Thursday, September 28 and Friday, September 29, 2023 at Mr. Willis’ home, 397 Mattie Avenue, Sycamore. The family will also receive friends Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
