Dorothy Ward Farmer, 86, of Sycamore passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Affectionately known as Dot, she was born on February 4, 1939 in Sycamore to the late John Clifford “Buddy” and Edith Hill Ward. She retired from the Turner County Board of Education where she was a Lunchroom Manager for many years. Dot loved to cook and sew. She is fondly remembered by her family as always humming. She loved working in her yard, especially her garden. She also loved to fish. Dot enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Dot passed away one day before her 69th wedding anniversary. She is now reunited with the love of her life and they get to celebrate their anniversary together again.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Glen “Elmo”) Pitts of Sycamore; grandchildren, Desiree (Wiley) McCoy, Jenna (Austin) Petty, Dusti (Wesley) Hughes and Toni Farmer. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Brenda Nelson and Pam Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Talmadge Farmer; sons, Tim Farmer and Kim Farmer; grandson, Joseph “T. J.” Farmer; siblings, Delona Nelson, Mary Lou “Boo” Rainew, Lila Mae Brooks and Hurdzel Ward.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
