Flora Mathews Rooks

Flora Mathews Rooks, 80, of Ashburn passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at her residence.

Flora was born in Turner County to the late Emory Edward and Calline Perry Mathews. She was a bookkeeper and later a partner with Economy Gas Company for many years. Flora, known as Precious to her grandchildren, was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joel Rooks; son, Edward (Ila) Rooks; grandchildren, Sarah (Samuel) Rooks Norris and Hannah Rooks; and great-grandson, John Parker Norris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Rooks; daughter-in-law, Sheila Rooks; siblings, Jessie Mathews, Callie Lumpkin, Emoline Etheridge, Voncile Ward, E.J. Mathews, Ann Wood, Hazel Judge, and L.J. "Sonny" Mathews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 14, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, before the service at Perry Funeral Chapel.
