Gregory Wendell Hudgins

Gregory Wendell Hudgins, 83, of Sycamore passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 at his residence.

 

Gregory was born on July 2, 1940 in Turner County to the late Clifford Coleman and Margaret Mae Rainey Hudgins. He was a Rural Carrier for the United States Postal Service having retired after 27 years. Gregory was also one of the first paramedics in Turner County. He served on the Board of Commissioners for Turner County from 2007-2014. He loved hunting, fishing and sports. Most of all he was a family man who loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Gregory was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served on the Hospitality Committee.

 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie Wynn Hudgins of Sycamore; grandchildren, Ryan Gregory (Darian) Ireland and Katelyn Lillie Marie Ireland. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Wynnston Dray Ireland.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Marie Ireland and his siblings, Jack Hudgins, Donald Hudgins, Dalvin Hudgins, Daphnia Carter, Carolyn Clements and Hilton Hudgins.

 

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore. The family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church.
