Ima Jean Walters

Ima Jean Walters, 92, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Pruitt Health in Sylvester.

Ima Jean was born on May 29, 1932 in Turner County to the late Thelma Burdette Watson and Leon Watson. Ima Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashburn. She was a secretary having worked at Perry Funeral Chapel. Ima Jean was known for her cooking and even in her 90’s could always be found taking care of her yard and flowers. She lived in Turner County all of her life until moving to Tifton in 2015 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Bryan Tompkins of Tifton; grandson, Blake Tompkins of Tifton; sister, Linda Aultman of Tifton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends and special neighbors, Jenny and Ady Granberry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Lee Bryan; husband, James “Bubba” Walters; sister, Marie Watson Youngblood; son-in-law, Gene Tompkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of services Friday, January 17, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private.
