James Raymond (J. R.) Nutt

James Raymond (J. R.) Nutt, 79, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Atrium Healthcare in Macon.

J. R. was born on May 2, 1945 in Cordele to the late Raymond Lee and Mary Geneva Burnette Nutt. He loved anything outdoors but was very passionate about deer hunting. J. R. would often tell family and friends he was unavailable for anything during that time of year. He also loved to cook and enjoyed sharing meals with his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Adair Nutt of Ashburn; daughter, Deanna Yaughn Wilson (Chuck) of Byron; brothers, Charles (Alice) Nutt of Arabi and Danny (Peggy) Nutt of Vienna; grandchildren, David Wise, Jr. and Gunnar (Sarah) Yaughn; great-grandchild, Emery Louise Yaughn. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his K-9 companion, Maggie.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home. The family will also greet friends after the service at 670 Cedar Drive, Ashburn, Georgia 31714.
