Jeannette Ross Akin

Jeannette Ross Akin, 96, of Ashburn passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at Fellowship Home at Cordelia Manor.

Jeannette was born on May 5, 1926 in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late William Lott and Emmie Rebecca Kendrick Ross. She was a homemaker and also worked for Manhattan Shirt Factory as a seamstress. She was also a member of Grace Baptist Church. Jeannette played second base for the women’s softball league well into her 40’s. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved to fish, go quail hunting and working in her garden. She also enjoyed woodworking.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Emmie Lou (Brad) Rigdon of Cordele; great-granddaughters, Josie Rigdon and Lillie Rigdon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. V. “Bubba” Akin; daughter, Karen Akin Wynn; sisters, Geneva Ross Pylant and Lyda Ross Hall; brother, William Ross. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
