Jimmy G. Owen, 86, of Crestview, Florida and former resident of Ashburn, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Crestview Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, Florida.
Jimmy was born on June 13, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Sam T. Owen and Vera Howard Owen. He was a retired Chief Master Sargent of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean and Vietnam War, a retired AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) Project Manager for the U.S. Government and was caregiver to Louise Owen (first wife), Nell Owen (second wife) and his mother in his later years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Crestview where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was a man that loved the Lord and strived to demonstrate that to others. He valued faith, integrity, and a hard work ethic. His contributions to the defense of our nation are enduring, but the legacy he cultivated through his family and church will endure for generations.
He is preceded in death by his loving wives Louise Owen of over 34 years and then Nell Owen of over 20 years; grandson, Chris McDonald; and niece Melody Wagner.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Owen Eddy of Atlanta, Georgia; stepsons Lawrence Morris of Carthage, Tennessee and Jack H. Morris of Hinesville, Georgia; stepdaughters Cathy Tetreault of Hawkinsville, Georgia and Donna Mullins of Baker, Florida; grandchildren, Lisa Broadhead, Jack (Bo) Morris, Jill Morris, Jimmy G. Morris, Lori Cicchetti, and Holly Rodriguez. He is also survived by several great and great-great grandchildren and many amazing nieces and nephews from several generations.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
