Joe McNair, 83, of Tifton, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at his residence.
Joe was born in Tift County on November 25, 1938 and was the son of the late Rupert Alvin and Julia North McNair. He owned and operated Jenkins Insurance and Real Estate until he retired in 2003. He was a past Potentate of Hason Temple in Albany; a former member of the Turner County Board of Commissioners; a charter member and former president of the Ashburn Rotary Club; former Chairman of Georgia Agrirama of Tifton; former member of the Board of Directors of the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce; former member of the Board of Directors of Colony Bank of Ashburn; former member of the Administrative Board of Ashburn First United Methodist Church; Turner County Citizen of the Year in 1986; Turner County Small Business of the Year in 2003. Joe was also a volunteer for the fire department for 35 years and served as assistant fire chief. Joe enjoyed sitting outside on the porch and visiting and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Ashburn First United Methodist Church.
Joe is survived by his son, Allien (Bill Schoepski) McNair of Rome, daughter, Mona (Keith) Cawley of Tifton; his brother, Kem (Deedee) McNair of New Smyrna, FL; grandchildren, Amanda C. (Hunter) Daughtrey and Trent (Elise) Cawley; great-grandchildren, Valley Daughtrey and Case Cawley. Joe is also survived by his extended family, Tracy (Danny Edwards) St. Amant of Ashburn, Julie (Pete) North of Tifton, Chase St. Amant of Ashburn and Alex North of Tifton.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Ramona V. Smith McNair and his second wife, Glenda Wilson McCann McNair.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Inaha Cemetery in Inaha. The family will greet family and friends on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Perry Funeral Chapel from 3:00-5:00PM.
While flowers will be accepted, for those that wish, the family prefers donations be made to the Bradley-Goss Scholarship, Hospice of Tift Area or the charity of your choice.
