Larry Stafford Geoghagan

Larry Stafford Geoghagan, 70, of Cordele passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Larry was born in Ashburn on January 14, 1954 to the late J. S. “Nig”, III and Carolyn Whiddon Geoghagan. He proudly served his country and retired from the United States Navy after 24 years of service. After his time in the Navy, he worked for Homeland Security so he could be closer to his family. He was a Baptist by faith. Larry loved his nieces, McKenna and Pyper, dearly and enjoyed watching them play softball. He was known for paying them for their homeruns and strikeoutsl. He also enjoyed cooking in BBQ competitions and he was also a BBQ judge. He traveled across the Southeast judging BBQ competitions. He enjoyed living on the lake and opening up his home to his family during the holidays where he would cook meals for them to enjoy together.

He is survived by his sister, Susan (Herman) McCard of Ashburn; nieces, McKenna McCard, Pyper McCard and Dawn (Donnie) Starling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, and his wife, Randy (Linda) Geoghagan.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 in Rose Hill Cemetery.
