Leffie Wynette “Tommie” Odom Smith, 99, of Arabi passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Pruitt Healthcare in Toomsboro, GA.
Wynette was born on August 22, 1924 in Crisp County, Georgia to the late James H. and Leffie Eugene Maddox Odom. She was a homemaker for many years. Wynette loved to cook and showed her love by feeding people. She learned at a very young age to make biscuits and was also well known for her caramel cakes. Wynette shared that talent with many friends and family members. She was affectionately given the name Tommie by her father. Wynette loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Leffie Anita (Bob) Smith Dailey; daughter-in-law, Laura Findlater Smith; grandchildren, Leslie Juliana (Kevin) Scott, Lindsey (Corey) Smith Holmquist, Lauren (Michael) Smith Morrison, Leffie Virginia (James) Dailey Tolin, and Robbie (Jennifer) Dailey; 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wynette was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Smith; son, Larry Julian Smith; siblings, Corrie Odom Collins, Geneva
Louise Odom, Catherine Jo Odom Vincent, Maude Odom, Vera Esteen Odom, R.H. “Skeet” Odom, James Odom, Joe Odom, and Wesley Odom; and great-grandaughter, Elaina Julianne Scott.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Smith Cemetery on Brock Road in Crisp County. The family will greet friends in the cemetery immediately following the service.
