Mary Helen Walls Nestor

Mary Helen Walls Nestor, 90, of Farmerville, Louisiana passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Mary was born in Cordele on February 27, 1934 to the late Oscar Lee, Sr. and Maggie Brown Walls. She was an embroiderer having worked for Speed Check. Mary enjoyed cooking and her biscuits were known to be the very best around. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Barnesville but also enjoyed watching church services on TV and listening to gospel music. She was a hard worker and a true Georgia Peach who loved everyone but especially her family. Mary also loved fishing with her family.

 She is survived by her sons, William (Deborah) Nelson of Farmerville, Louisiana and Thomas Earl (Coleen) Nelson of Cordele; sister, Shirley Walls of Covington, Louisiana; brother, Oscar Lee Walls, Jr. of Pineview. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny William Nelson; sons, Timothy Lee Nelson, Terry Wynn Nelson and Erby Travis Nelson; siblings, James Edward Walls, Cleve Manuel Walls, Elizabeth Wilson, Doris Herrington, Lucille Reeves and Maggie Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Perry Funeral Chapel.
