Matthew Ray Walker

Matthew Ray Walker, 24, of Ashburn passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 in Tifton.

Matthew was born on December 28, 1998 in Cordele to the late Bobby Ray Walker, Jr. and Wendy Waller Walker. He was a Pest Control Technician with Astro Exterminating Services and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Matthew loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He had a special bond with his mother, who often referred to him as her sweet angel baby. Matthew also enjoyed hunting.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Wendy Waller Walker of Ashburn; maternal grandmother, Joyce Campbell of Sycamore; uncles and aunts, Ivan and Angela Waller, Tony and Joye Waller and Mike and Shannon Walker and many cousins. He was also loved by his mother’s friend, Michael Shirah and his children, Courtney (Daniel) Calhoun, Casey (Justin) Bailey and Katelyn Shirah and Ann Duckworth.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bobby Ray Walker, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Wendell Waller; step-grandfather, Duanne Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 11, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday, December 11, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church.
