Myrtice Carter

Myrtice Beard Carter, 93, of Sycamore died Monday, February 27, 2023, at Cypress Pond of Tifton. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Bethel Baptist Church of Sycamore. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Donnie Duncan and Rev. Rex Johnson will officiate.

Myrtice was born to Paul and Emma Arminta Ross Beard on July 5, 1929, on the Tucker Mauldin farm in Bethel community of Turner County. She married Garland Eugene Carter on March 31, 1948, at the home of Rev. J.C. Moore. Mrs. Carter loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Eugene Carter, son, Alan Eugene Carter, son-n-law, Steve Tanner, and sisters, Annette Beard Murray and Dorothy Beard McClure.

Survivors include her son, Keith Carter (Martha Ann) of Sycamore, and daughter, Jane Carter Tanner of Chula; her brother, Jacob Gordon Beard of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Jody Carter (Sharon) of Rossville, Eric Carter (Christina) of Alpharetta, Andy Carter (Kristen) of Sycamore, Candace Carter DiGusto (Anthony) of Washington, Jonathan Tanner (Ali) of Brooklet, Michael Tanner (Bethany) of Sycamore, and Becky Carter Lupo (Joey) of Sycamore; great-grandchildren, Esther Carter Johnson (Reed) of Chickamauga, Joshua Carter of Rossville, Ethan Carter, Rylan Carter and Wyatt Nutt of Sycamore, Jacob, Eli and Anna Tanner of Brooklet, Bryce and Tyler Tanner of Sycamore, and Eliza and Caleb Lupo of Sycamore.
