Roy Earl Sears, 71, of Ashburn, Georgia, walked through Heaven's gates on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was born in Richland, Georgia, on April 6, 1951, to William "Pappy" Sears and Helen "Granny" Sears. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brothers, Billy Sears, and Thornton Sears.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa "Grandma" Sears; daughter and son-in-law, Carson and Rawlings Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Jenni Sears; and daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Heath Miller. "Grandaddy's" pride and joys were his grandchildren: Kenneth and Ashlyn Williams, Caleigh Williams, Karissa Williams, Jaden Sears, Gabe Sears, Ryan Johnson, Wyatt Miller, and Sawyer Miller. Roy is also survived by his sister, Dale Murray.
Rapid Roy never met a stranger. He was a lover. He found beauty in music, the performing arts, nature, and people. Roy took to heart Matthew 25:40, "Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did to one of the least of these, you did it to me." Throughout the years, he actively supported and encouraged others through Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Brother Charlie's Rescue Center, and the Kairos Prison Ministry. When he wasn't busy meeting all your flooring needs, he was fully emersed in his lifetime loves of listening and singing music, caring for his plants, investing in his children and grandchildren, and continuing to chase the love of his life, Lisa Sears.
The funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 3:30 pm (visitation prior at 2:00 pm) at the Turner County Civic Center in Ashburn, Georgia, followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Flowers are accepted, and donations to the following are appreciated:
2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
