William Russell West

William Russell West, 63, of Sycamore passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at his residence.

Russell was born in Ashburn on May 11, 1960 to the late John Ronald West and Virginia Jo Pirtle West. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. Russell was an extraordinarily talented athlete. He excelled at all sports, but was an exceptional baseball player. His dream was to play for the New York Yankees. Unfortunately, that dream was cut short by an accident that resulted in a broken hip. Still, he continued to play competitive softball as long as his health allowed.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pam Pate West of Sycamore; mother, Jo West of Ashburn; daughters, Ashley West of Sycamore and Whitney West (Presha McCLoud) of Schuyler, Nebraska; son, Russ (Jessi) West of Tifton; sister, Rhonda West Carter of Ashburn; grandchildren, Brayden West, Bryce Massey, Tristen McCloud, Drake Mackey, Ashlyn Massey, Rylee West, Blaze McCloud and Avery McCloud.

The family will hold a memorial service Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.
