David is a native of Cordele. He began his funeral service career at Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home in Vienna, Georgia in 2009. After marrying his wife, Suzi Mastrario Mathis, an Ashburn native, they moved to Ashburn and he began working at Perry Funeral Chapel.
He earned his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science from Ogeechee Technical College and has been a licensed funeral director, embalmer and preneed insurance agent since 2015. In June 2022, David, along with his wife Suzi, became owners of Perry Funeral Chapel. He serves on the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a part of the Fire Ant Festival Committee. In 2020, David was elected to serve on the Turner County Board of Education where he is Vice-Chairman.
He is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia where he serves on the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. David is a die-hard Turner County Titans supporter as well as a life-long Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Braves fan. He and his wife Suzi have three sons, Liam, Pax and Fitz. They are members of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Suzi has always had a love of anything involving Ashburn and Turner County having moved here at a young age with her parents, Mike and Sue Mastrario. She is currently employed with Turner County Schools as an elementary school teacher. Suzi is a 2008 graduate of Turner County High School and Valdosta State University where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in early childhood education.
In June 2022, Suzi, along with her husband David, became owners of Perry Funeral Chapel. Suzi is a natural people person and enjoys helping people in their time of need and working in the community. She and David have three sons, Liam, Pax and Fitz. They are members of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Jim is a native of Turner County and has worked for Perry Funeral Chapel since August 2008. Jim was appointed Turner County Deputy Coroner in October 2013. In June 2021, he was appointed Turner County Coroner after the passing of long-time coroner, Edgar F. Perry. Jim is also a pecan farmer. Jim, along with his wife Leann, are the owners of Hardy’s Flowers in Ashburn. They are also members of Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore.
Barbara is a native of Turner County and has lived here her whole life. She worked in the banking industry for many years. She began her career at Ashburn Bank in 1963 as a bookkeeper and eventually retired in 2009 from Colony Bank where she was Bank President. She was married to the late Charles B. Perry and has been actively involved with the funeral home for many years. She is active in the community and is a member of the Ashburn Kiwanis Club. She is also an active member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church. She has two children, Tonja Perry Healey and her husband Kevin and Charles “Bucky” Perry. She has four grandchildren, Cody Healey and his wife Hannah, Caleb Healey, Mac Perry and Anna Perry.
Dee is a Turner County native as well as her husband, Edd Cunningham. Though they moved away for a time due to careers, they have returned to their beloved hometown of Ashburn and are enjoying being active in the community once again. Dee has a love for meeting people and enjoys helping others. She has an extensive background in customer service, having worked in various customer service roles in both large companies and small. She and Edd have three children, Sara, Lochlan and Kathryn. Dee and Edd are active members of Ashburn First United Methodist Church, where she and Edd both grew up attending.
Eddie is a native of Ashburn and has worked for Perry Funeral Chapel for over 20 years. Eddie takes great pride in his work and enjoys helping people in their time of need. Eddie is known throughout the Turner County community as someone that can be called on to lend a helping hand. He is also an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons fan. He and his wife, Keetha Spears, have seven kids, Donovan, Donna, Jayden, Curtis, Zykerria, Katrina and Kerra. They also have one grandson, Kaden.
Alex is a native of Ashburn and has worked for Perry Funeral Chapel for over 20 years. Alex takes great pride in his work and enjoys helping people in their time of need. In addition to his work, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He and his significant other, Tangela Rivers, have one daughter, Brooklynn Rivers.
Charles was co-owner of Perry Funeral Chapel where he had worked since 1964 and also served as Deputy Coroner of Turner County. Charles was a 1961 graduate of Turner Co. High School, a 1964 graduate of University of Minnesota Dept. of Mortuary Science where he was an honor graduate and a 1995 graduate of University of Georgia Leadership Institute. Charles was a member and Past President (1979-80) of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, a member and Past President (1983-84) of the Past Presidents Club of Georgia. He was also a member of The Georgia Coroner’s Association, Georgia Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia. He enjoyed sharing his writings in his weekly articles in The Wiregrass Farmer and in his book, “Wishbone, Backbone & Funny Bone” which was published in 2011.
He was a Funeral Director and co-owner of the family firm Perry Funeral Chapel, Inc. Paul was an active member of The Ashburn First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a member of Bill Hardin Sunday School Class, the church choir and served as the church treasurer for a long number of years.
Edgar was a native of Turner County. In 1977 Edgar joined his brothers as well as his father in the family business, Perry Funeral Chapel. While working in the family business he graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1979. In 1986, he was elected to serve as the Turner County Coroner and held that position until his death. He was also a member of the Georgia Coroner's Training Council. He was a member and Past President (1996-1997) of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia. Edgar was also presented the President's Award from the Academy in 2002. He also served as the President of the Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia from 2004-2005. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association.
